September brings back-to-school routines, cooler mornings, shorter days, and the first signs of fall. It’s a great time for a few seasonal safety checks—and to make sure your insurance still keeps up with life’s changes.

🚗 Back-to-School Safety • School is back in session! Give yourself extra time during morning and afternoon commutes and watch carefully for children, buses, bikes, and busy crosswalks. • Remember to slow down in school zones and be especially alert around stopped school buses. • Have a new teen driver, college student, or a change in who’s driving which vehicle? Let’s make sure your auto policies are up to date.

🏡 Get Your Home Fall-Ready • Take a look at gutters, downspouts, roofs, and exterior drainage before Oregon’s rainy season arrives. • Check outdoor lighting as daylight hours get shorter, and make sure walkways and steps are well-lit and free of hazards. • September is also a good time to test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed.

🔥 Wildfire Awareness Wildfire season can continue well into September, so don’t put away your preparedness plans just yet. • Keep evacuation plans and emergency supplies accessible. • Maintain defensible space around your home and stay aware of local fire conditions. • Keep an updated home inventory—including photos or video of your belongings—in a secure location or backed up digitally.
